WHITPIX

a blog of photos and fun from Cole Whitworth

Advanced Studio Lighting final project completed with Emily Moon. Very happy with the results. We focused on a film noir look and feel and made a detective narrative to the body of work where the male is pursuing the female. Her identity is never fully revealed and remains a mystery. Hope everyone likes the photos.

Sneak Peek at the book I will be making for my senior project class. I will have an edition and be selling them to anyone who wants one. It will feature around 30 photographs from my architectural landscape series focused on Hwy 17 in Brunswick, GA.

Some fun shots I took on the way to Brunswick along Hwy 17. Cafe Risque was a highlight. More travel photos to follow soon.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog with photos. Sorry for the slacking. Here are some shots I took over the weekend in Atlanta and Carrollton, GA. I love finding interesting architecture along the road. There were many other things I wanted to shoot but was unable too due to lack of time.

Some studio shots of my family’s American Bulldog that I did in the studio. Mother really wanted to have studio shots of the dog so I did it. Gotta admit that she does look pretty cute though.

Big Kiss Goodnight! Here’s a shot I did in the studio a while back that just talks about buying music. It’s up on the racks for sale. Support the bands you listen to and love.

So it’s been a while since I’ve updated this thing with any of my work so today I’d thought I’d show what I’ve been working on and what’s been keeping me too busy to upload and share on Tumblr. These images were taken for my Architectural Landscape Photo class. I went down to Brunswick, GA and shot structures along Hwy 17 as it passes through this city. Hwy 17 stands as a gateway to St. Simon’s, Jekyll Island, and Sea Island. All along this roadway you’ll see there are a lot of eye sores and building that don’t reflect the glamour resort life of these private islands. In 2006 the GA Trust Foundation put Hwy 17 and the city of Brunswick on their list of “Places In Peril.” The group functions as a preservation group that finds areas or primarily buildings in the state each year that need attention in preserving. The highway and city were placed on the list 6 years ago and not much has advanced in progression towards improving this “Place in Peril.” So I decided to go along the highway and photograph the buildings and land use to better show the area and help in getting more attention to preseve Brunswick. Anyways here are some of the images from my series and I hope you enjoy them. All images were taken on a 4x5’ rail camera with Kodak film.
